Young people are invited to create an original piece of writing inspired by local women for a spoken word contest at the Whaling Museum.
To celebrate Women’s History Month, “Lighting the Way: Historic Women of the SouthCoast,” in partnership with the Bristol Community College Women’s Center, and the YWCA, is hosting the spoken word contest from 6 to 8 p.m. March 14 at the Whaling Museum. Entries are due by Feb. 26.
Young people age 12 to 25 are invited to choose one of the women profiled at http://www.historicwomensouthcoast.org as inspiration for an original piece of writing suitable for performance – a poem, song, or some combination. Entries can be submitted at http://www.whalingmuseum.org or firstname.lastname@example.org.
