Phil Taggart, of Ventura, has been selected as Ventura County’s second poet laureate, succeeding Mary Kay Rummel.
The Ventura County Arts Council announced the selection Tuesday. Taggart will serve for two years as official poet and ambassador to the community for poetry.
An inauguration ceremony will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 5 in the Atrium Gallery of the Ventura County Government Center, followed by a reception. The public is invited.
