The fourth annual Poetry Slam will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday [7/5] at the Pfiffner Building at Pfiffner Pioneer Park, 1100 Crosby Ave., as part of Riverfront Rendezvous.
A poetry slam is a contest in which poets perform their work on stage. Five judges will be chosen at random from the audience and give each poet a score of 1 to 10 for their reading.
In the first round, every participating poet reads one poem about anything. The top poets from each round advance until, during the third round, only two poets are left to battle it out, reading one last poem. The winner is the poet with the highest score overall from the three rounds.
