Even if you don’t know his name, you’ve seen Henry Rollins.
He’s the former singer for iconic punk band Black Flag, as well as the Rollins Band. He had his own talk show on IFC and hosts “10 Things You Don’t Know About” on H2. He’s acted in films like “Heat,” “Bad Boys II” and the TV series “Sons of Anarchy.”
But over the last 30 years he’s also written more than 30 books. They range from tour diaries like “Get in the Van: On the Road With Black Flag,” documentation of his travels around the world like “Smile, You’re Traveling” and introspective works like “Black Coffee Blues” and “Eye Scream.”
He started out self-publishing what are essentially ‘zines and continues to publish his own works through his company 2.13.61, which has also put out books by Iggy Pop, Nick Cave and others. He speaks Friday as part of the Wonder of Words Festival.
