The She Is Poetry will take place in St. Louis at the Legacy Cafe on May 11th. It’s an evening focused on “strength,” “sacrifice,” and “survival” set to the tune of St. Louis’ finest poets (an all-women line up). The event will be hosted by Aja La’Starr. Check out some more information about her, below. And peep the flyer for more information.
In July 2011, Aja published her first book, Refuge: A Poetic Sanctuary; and as a freelance writer, her words have been featured in a number of publications such as: Diversity on Demand, The St. Louis American and University City Patch. She also edited her first book, Crazed Sanity by Taylored Pot, which was released in April 2011 as well as a children’s book, Missy’s Mouthing Off by Adrienne Draper which was released in March 2012. In addition, she served as lead instructor, graphic designer and editor to The Risen Publishing Camp for Kids; a program that turned 15 at-risk children into published authors.
