Outgoing Northampton Poet Laureate Richard Michelson, owner of R. Michelson Galleries in Northampton, is out with a new adult poetry book, his first in eight years. The book, “More Money than God,” is being released just as Michelson is wrapping up his unprecedented second term as Northampton’s Poet Laureate on April 1.
“It’s my first adult collection in eight years,” he said. “The publisher is University of Pittsburgh Press, one of the longest and best publishers of poetry in this country, so it’s a pleasure for me to be on this list.”
When Michelson became Poet Laureate in 2012, he set a goal to use his role as a poetry ambassador of sorts to do more adult writing, as he had been doing a lot of children’s book writing in recent years.
