Charlotte Miller Simon Poetry competition (via Main Line)

Full Title: Entries accepted through Jan. 23 for Charlotte Miller Simon Poetry competition

This year marks the tenth anniversary of the Charlotte Miller Simon Poetry Competition, presented by the Ardmore Free Library. The competition is the vision of Jonathan Miller and his wife, Christina Miller, who started the contest to celebrate Jonathan’s mother, Charlotte Miller Simon and the love of poetry she fostered during her life. Charlotte Miller Simon passed away in 2005. Charlotte moved to Ardmore in 1952 and never left the area, living over four decades in Ardmore and Wynnewood with her husband of forty-two years, Martin Miller. After Martin Miller’s passing, she lived in Rosemont, and, finally, in the Quadrangle senior living community in Haverford with her second husband, Samuel Simon.

The contest is generously sponsored through an endowment established by Jonathan and Christina Miller, with prize money funded annually by them. Jonathan, Christina and Matthew Miller, Jonathan’s younger brother, and Matthew’s wife, Erika, also are funding the creation of The Charlotte and Martin Miller Children’s Soft Play Area at the renovated Ardmore Library.
