Full title: Brooklyn spoken word artist gets Prince William’s backing to produce his show for the stage”
It’s springtime for Brooklyn performer Steven Prescod and his one-man show — now that Prince William volunteered to be a producer.
A day after Prescod wowed William and Kate with a spoken word performance about his hard luck life, the 22-year-old was making plans to take his show on the road — and even dreaming of Broadway.
“The prince said he would pay money to watch this,” Prescod said Wednesday. “He asked me what I was doing with his piece. I said I was planning to perform it for other kids. Then he asked if somebody was helping me with that.”
Prescod mentioned his mentor Moises Belizario at The CityKids Foundation, who co-wrote the show.
“I would like to help you with that,” William said, a still-stunned Prescod recalled. “I said, ‘Really?’ He said, ‘Yes,’ and said, ‘Take my information.’”
