Montana-based poet and photographer Tyler Knott Gregson has written at least one new poem a day for his blog over the past five years. Every morning, he posts a photo with a caption and a haiku. Around lunchtime, he puts up a longer poem, composed on a typewriter and scanned into his computer. He shares the works on Tumblr, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook—and he hasn’t missed a day yet.
That perseverance has paid off. The 33-year-old poet has 259,000 followers on Tumblr and 184,000 on Instagram, where his pictures of sunsets, or images of haiku written on scraps of paper, often draw more than 4,000 “likes.” His 31,000 Twitter fans post images of his poems written on chalkboards in their homes or tattooed on their arms. “Only by weathering the greatest storms can we appreciate the most beautiful skies,” one tattoo reads.
