Poetry and acute care for the elderly are two things not usually combined, but when they are the results are remarkable. On the fifth floor of the Flinders Medical Centre (FMC) just south of Adelaide, doctors and nurses busily shuffle around like bees servicing a hive.
In a room for the acute care for the elderly, three aged men sit, one lays on a bed.
All are transfixed by a conversation with Arts in Health visiting author David Chapple.
Mr Chapple laughs and chuckles with patient Trevor Hersey as Mr Hersey enlightens him on the ways to a woman’s heart.
