What: Power of SHE Poetry Slam

It’s going down WOWps style at the ‘Power of SHE” slam featuring Desireé Dallagiacomo. The slam is being hosted by the 2011 WOWps Champion, Theresa Davis.
SlamCharlotte is honored to celebrate the beautiful women of slam.
You don’t want to miss the WOWps qualifier. The winner of this slam will represent Charlotte NC at the Women of the World Poetry Slam in March 2015.
Desireé Dallagiacomo lives in New Orleans where she teaches performance and writing workshops with WordPlay Teen Writing Project, the Recovery School District, and The Centre for the Arts.
She is studying creative writing at the University of New Orleans, where she is the sole recipient of the Ryan Chighazola Poetry Scholarship.
She is the 2013 Southwest Shout Grand Slam Champ, a Pushcart Prize nominee, and a member of the National Poetry Slam champion team, Slam New Orleans.
Desireé is also the co-author of “From Her Mouth Came the Flood”, a 2-woman play that made its debut appearance at the New Orleans Fringe Festival.
She has performed alongside acclaimed poets such as Saul Williams, Martin Espada, Jeffrey McDaniel, and Mos Def. Her work can be found in The Allen Review, Ampersand Journal, Ellipsis, and Tandem.
